smilehandbook.com publishes information about dental treatment abroad.

What this site is not

It is not a clinic. It is not a dental practice. It is not an agency, an intermediary or a booking service for treatment or travel. We do not provide treatment, we do not arrange treatment or travel, we take no appointments for treatment, and we hold no commercial relationship with any dental clinic anywhere. The one thing this site can book, when its chat options are shown, is a free WhatsApp video call with one of our volunteer dentists, through its AI assistant, as described in the privacy notice.

Nothing published here is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a recommendation to undergo any procedure. No dentist answers questions in writing on this site. When the chat options are shown, the questions asked there are answered with general information by an AI assistant, which can also book a video call with a volunteer dentist; both are described in the privacy notice. A video call cannot replace an in-person dental examination, and this site does not sell, arrange or book treatment. A decision about your own teeth should be made with a dentist who has examined you.

Independence

No clinic, laboratory, agency or manufacturer pays to appear on this site, and none can. We take no commission and no referral fee. Our intended source of income is advertising, which is not yet in place. If any of this changes, it will be stated on the editorial standards page before the change takes effect.

Accuracy and corrections

We publish the method behind our claims and we keep an append-only record of our corrections. If you find an error, we would rather hear about it than not, and the publisher block at the foot of this page carries the operator's registered postal address, with every other contact route this site publishes beside it. Corrections are recorded with their date; we do not quietly edit a claim and leave the page looking as though it always said the new thing. AI language models are used as a drafting tool in preparing the text on this site, and no text is published until it has been read by a person who takes editorial responsibility for it and who is named on our editorial standards page.

Third-party images and map data

The photographs in the gallery of a clinic profile are reduced, and in some cases cropped, copies of images that the clinic itself uploaded to its own Google Maps listing; the caption beneath the gallery names that source and the date we retrieved the photographs. The maps on clinic profiles are still images we made from OpenStreetMap map tiles; the map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). A rights holder who wants an image removed can write to the operator's registered postal address in the publisher block at the foot of this page, or use any other contact route printed beside it in that block.

Status

This notice was reviewed by a lawyer and published on 1 September 2026, the day the review was signed off. Until that date its address returned a not-found response and nothing linked to it. What that review covered is the text as it stood on that day. It no longer covers the whole of this page: the passage above on accuracy and corrections was rewritten on 5 September 2026, and neither that passage nor this one has been read by a lawyer since; both changes are recorded in the corrections log. On 26 September 2026 the section on third-party images and map data was added, and a sentence on photographs in the passage on accuracy and corrections was narrowed to leave the photographs in clinic profile galleries out; neither of those two changes has been read by a lawyer, and both are recorded in the corrections log. On 16 October 2026 that sentence on photographs was removed from the passage on accuracy and corrections; this change has not been read by a lawyer either. On 17 October 2026 the two paragraphs on what this site is not were rewritten to account for the chat assistant described in the privacy notice, which can book a free WhatsApp video call with a volunteer dentist; this change has not been read by a lawyer, and it is recorded in the corrections log. The operator's registration details sit at the foot of this page, in the publisher block: the registered company name, the registered address and the tax registration. That block prints only what we actually hold; a detail we do not hold is not replaced there by a placeholder.
